Faridkot Court cancels arrest warrant of two farmers, issued during Lok Sabha Polls for ‘Poll Violations’

Faridkot: During last Lok Sabha elections, there was a large-scale opposition towards the BJP candidates by farmers’ organizations across Punjab. Faridkot Lok Sabha candidate and former Member of Parliament Hans Raj Hans was strongly opposed by the Kirti Kisan Union in Faridkot and the Youth Bharat Sabha on a large scale in almost every village. Following this, the Kirti Kisan Union was dismissed by the court of the SDM of Faridkot.

Arrest warrants were issued on 28 August 2024 for the state secretary and SKM leader Rajinder Singh Deep Singh Wala and the state leader of Youth Bharat Sabha Nonnihal Singh to be arrested and produced in court by 4 September. The arrest warrant was issued against them in the case of violation of poll conduct.

These warrants were issued under Section 107-150 CrPC under Rupt No. 25 dated May 4, 2024. Yesterday the Faridkot Courtcancelled these warrants issued against the farmers. According to the news received from the sources, the arrest warrants of the two leaders have been canceled on the statements of the district police. The police have told the SDM court that there is no need for any further action in this case.

On the other hand, farmer leader Rajinder Singh Deep Singh Wala has declared the cancellation of the warrant as a victory of the people’s struggle. He said that the arrest warrants that were issued by the SDM court have been quietly canceled by the court. He said that all this is due to the pressure of organizations and protests of the farmers’ groups.
