Ludhiana: Stone pelting on Sutlej Express; 4-year-old including 3 sustains head injury

Ludhiana: In a disturbing incident, that exposed the major negligence of RPF (Railway Protection Force) in Ludhiana, stones were pelted on the Ludhiana Express resulting in injuries to 3 passengers. Stones were pelted on a train numbered Sutlej Express (14630). The stones dashed in and hit 2 to 3 passengers resulting in injuries. In the injured,  there is also a 4-year old kid who suffered a major injury on his head.  Due to lack of patrolling on railway tracks and trains mischievous elements are pelting stones openly on the trains. The incident took place near Badowal, Ludhiana.

About 2 to 3 other passengers were also injured. There was commotion in the coach of the train due to stone pelting. People pulled the chain and stopped the train. The railway staff later reached the train to inquire about the condition of the child, but there was no first aid facility in the train available. Prince, 4-year-old boy soaked in blood was given first aid on reaching Ludhiana railway station.

Giving information, Prince’s mother Savita said that she boarded the Sutlej Express from Ganganagar to Ludhiana at around 1 am. As soon as they reached Baddowal in Ludhiana, stones started pelting on their coach. Suddenly, a stone hit his son Prince’s head. Two other passengers sitting together were also hit.

People stopped the train by pulling its chain. Seeing Prince’s condition deteriorating, he was immediately dropped at Ludhiana railway station. Railway doctors gave him first aid. Relatives of Prince’s maternal uncle reached the station and admitted him to the Civil Hospital. Furthermore Civil hospital doctors have referred him to PGI for better treatment.

In this regard, Senior DSC Rishipal of Ferozepur Division said that this incident is very sad. Teams are being formed to nab the stone pelters. Soon the culprits will be found and arrested. Action will be taken against whoever is responsible for this matter. No relaxation can be done regarding the safety of passengers.
