Chandigarh: A grenade attack occurred at the residence of a retired principal on Wednesday. The house where the explosion occurred is of a former principal here in the posh area of ​​Sector 10 Chandigarh. Following the explosion, a 7 to 8-inch crater was created in the house at that spot. The impact of explosion can be understood by the fact that the glass panes of the windows were broken and pots in the garden were damaged. From the CCTV footage, it was found that 3 attackers came in an auto and fled in the same auto after the incident.

The recent development in the matter is that one suspect of the blast case has been arrested by the police.

As soon as the news of the blast was received, there was a stir in the Chandigarh Police. A heavy police force including IG Rajkumar, SSP Kanwardeep Kaur, led by DGP Surendra Singh Yadav, have reached the house of retired principal.

Bomb disposal squad and dog squad teams have been called to the spot for investigation. Forensic team was also called to investigate the material used in the blast. At the same time, Chandigarh Police teams have left for Punjab and Haryana to search for the attackers. Panchkula and Mohali along with Chandigarh have been put on high alert.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team has also reached the spot for investigation. After the incident, pictures of 2 suspicious youths have surfaced. Police is investigating the terror and gangster angle.

The incident took place in house number 575 of sector 10. This house belongs to retired principal Bhupesh Malhotra. At the time of the incident, the family was sitting in the verandah of the house and moved in few minutes ago narrowly escaping the incident.
