Rajpura: Farmers sitting on the Shambhu border of Punjab-Haryana have postponed the decision to block Gagan Chowk in Rajpura. This news comes as big relief for the people going from Punjab to Haryana. After the closure of Shambhu border, most of the vehicles were going towards Delhi from this route.

At the same time, Punjab-Haryana officials have discussed the demands of the farmers in the past few days. After which it is expected that another attempt to persuade the farmers may be made soon.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher informed on behalf of both the forums SKM non-political and Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee that today Shambhu border Gagan Chowk was to be blocked but now this decision has been postponed.

Pandher said “The administration has done a lot of work. However, the Punjab government is not ready to listen to the issue of electricity. The government which was talking about the supporters of the farmers, despite the heat, electricity was not made available to those farmers. The administration has asked for time and we have given time.”

Pandher said, “Time has been given keeping in mind the convenience of the people but if the government does not accept their demand of providing electricity, then the road will be closed soon.”
