Big disciplinary action: SSP Jalandhar rural suspends 5 police officers for duty lapses

The action was taken after several complaints were received from the people.

Jalandhar: In a big disciplinary action, Jalandhar Rural Police have suspended five of its officers. A departmental inquiry has also been initiated against them. It is said that five officers have been suspended due to sheer negligence towards duty and misconduct. The action was taken after several complaints were received from the people.

The suspended officers include ASI Avtar Singh, Constable Bikramjit Singh, Head Constable Bhupinder Singh, Constable Aryanpreet Singh and ASI/LR Jaswinder Singh. The information about the suspension of five cops has been shared by Jalandhar Rural SSP Harpreet Singh Khakh. He said that action was taken after receiving the complaint.

Among the five suspended officers, three are SHOs, while two are lower-level officers. It is said that the officers were absent from their duty for a long time.  People were repeatedly lodging complaints related to drugs but no action was taken by the now-suspended cops. Acting on the negligence and misconduct for duty, SSP Harpreet Singh Kakh suspended them from their duty and also ordered a departmental inquiry.


Jalandhar rural police with a video message of SSP Kakh posted on X. The post read, “In a move to uphold accountability, SSP Jalandhar Rural has suspended 5 officers for duty lapses across multiple stations. Departmental inquiry initiated to address negligence and reinforce public trust.”
