Gurdaspur: Gurdeep Singh, an NRI in Athwal village is renovating his house in the village after returning from abroad. He is getting a big gate outside the house. The NRI alleged that the Sarpanch of the village who is also his relative is deliberately trying to harass him by lodging false complaints in the police. On the other hand, the village sarpanch Mangaljit Singh said that it is their common land which his relative is trying to encroach by putting up a gate. After the complaint to the police, both parties have been asked to show and present their documents. For now the work of putting up a gate has been halted.
Giving information in this regard, NRI Gurdeep Singh said that his entire family lives abroad and he returned from abroad a few days ago. He said that he is renovating his house and putting a gate outside the house. He alleged that village sarpanch Mangaljit Singh, who also seems to be his relative, is deliberately blocking his gate with the help of police and harassing him.
The NRI threatens if the same thing continues then he would commit suicide outside the house and the responsibility of which would be of the police and the Sarpanch of the village.
On the other hand, village sarpanch Mangaljit Singh denied all the allegations and said that NRI Gurdeep Singh seems to be his relative and this is their common land. Sarpanch said that he can cultivate on that land but cannot build a house. Sarpanch added that NRI wants to occupy this land by building a house and therefore he is putting a gate.
On the other hand, the police officials said that a complaint has been filed by both parties and both parties have been called to the police station with documents. Action will be taken after checking the documents.
