Punjabi Youth from Malerkotla dies in car accident in Ontario

Gurmahikpreet was the only son of his parents and was living in Canada

Malerkotla: In a tragic incident, a Punjabi Youth from Malerkotla district died in a car accident in Muscota city of Ontario province of Canada. The youth was identified as Gurmahikpreet Singh (21) son of Sukhchain Singh Kaler. Gurmahikpreet was the only son of his parents and was living in Canada.

This is the fourth death of a youth on foreign soil in six weeks in district Malerkotla. Gurmahikpreet Singh had completed his two-year studies, obtained a work permit and was working as an electrical engineer.

The full details of the death of Gurmahikpreet Singh in the car accident have not been obtained, but “Go Fund Me”, a social service organization active to help Punjabis in Canada, uploaded the picture of Gurmahikpreet Singh on its website and returned his dead body to his parents. Arrangements are being made to send it to Punjab.

This is the fourth youth death in the last six weeks in Malerkotla district. Before this, 23-year-old Gurveer Singh son of Ratandeep Singh of village Shergarh Cheema, who had gone to England after getting married, died in discordant circumstances.
