Jalandhar: An important meeting of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Jalandhar Zonal Council was held today at Hotel Mariton. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss the problems and challenges of Jalandhar and surrounding industrial areas so that strategies can be formulated to make the industries of the industrial areas more effective.
The issues discussed in the meeting were shortage of labour force, development of basic amenities in areas declared as industrial zones as per town planning, sewerage in focal points, cleanliness, the problem of non-functioning street lights, approval of factory maps at the local level, creation of a new focal point in Jalandhar, the rising cost of electricity, export-related issues and low use of new technology. Apart from this, necessary changes were demanded in government policies and rules so that industries could be made easier and more competitive.
CII Jalandhar Zone Chairman Aman Mittal, who is also the Vice President of Lovely Professional University and Vice Chairman of CII Jalandhar Zone and Managing Director of Sharp Chucks and Machines Ltd. Ajay Sikka chaired the meeting. He seriously discussed the challenges of the industrial sector and said, “To make the industries of our region strong and effective, we not only need to solve the existing problems but also find solutions to them.”
The members present in the meeting also shared their views and gave their suggestions for the industrial development of the region. The members expressed the need to pay special attention to workforce development, improvement in manufacturing process and policy reforms for industries. CII member and JMP Industries Managing Director Balram Kapoor gave the road map for the development of industry in the state.
On this occasion, Balram Kapoor from JMP Industry, Sharad Agarwal from OK Tools, Kamnaraj Agarwal from GDPA Fastener, Barinder Kalsi from Kalsi Metal Works, Jagjit Bedi from Bedi Export, Rajesh Gupta from Alaska Belt, Amit Singh from PIMS, Tushar Jain from Basant Autotech, Sahil Sood from Dharm Trans Belt, Sukhjeet Cheema from Pukhraj Herbal, Mukhinder Singh from State Engineering, Navdeepak Sandhu, Nishant Mittal, Dinesh Sharma, Dharmendra Mehta, Rahul Gupta, Nakul Gupta, Harpreet Singh, Sahib Dhiman, Rajneesh Dhawan etc were present.
