WhatsApp has made improvements to its Status feature by introducing two new updates. The company has introduced out Share Likes and Private Mentions to the Status feature. The Share Likes feature lets users show their appreciation for a status with a heart emoji, sending a notification to the recipient. All reactions are organized in the viewer’s sheet alongside the list of those who viewed the status, and this update is now available to a broader audience.
WhatsApp’s Share Likes differ from those of traditional social media platforms because they are private. Only the status creator can see who liked their status, and there is no public like counter visible to other users.
Meanwhile, the Private Mentions feature allows users to tag specific contacts in their status updates. When a contact is mentioned, they receive a notification and a private message, but their mention remains confidential from other viewers. Additionally, the tagged contacts can reshare the status without revealing the original creator’s identity.
These features will be available to users who download the latest updates of WhatsApp for Android via the Google Play Store or for iOS through the App Store, with a wider rollout expected over the coming weeks.
