Ludhiana:
A 6-year-old girl was found dead and her naked dead body was wrapped in a blanket at the tin roof of a factory in Moti Nagar area of Ludhiana on Tuesday. It is being suspected that the minor girl was sexually assaulted before being murdered.
The incident has triggered a panic in the area and the police including the senior officials rushed to site after learning about the incident and initiated investigation.
According to the police, the girl was residing in the labour quarter located adjacent to the factory and at the time of incident, her parents were at work and only her grandmother used to be there in the room to take care of her.
As per her grandmother, the girl went outside the room to play and suddenly went missing. When she went outside the quarter to check, she couldn’t find her. Later, she climbed upstairs to check her at the rooftop but she was shocked to find the lifeless body of the girl on the tin-roof of the adjacent factory.
According to the police, the girl seemed to be sexually assaulted and then she was thrown from at least 10 feet and she suffered a head injury.
The police suspected a neighbour for rape and murder, however, the police lodged an FIR against unidentified accused.
Inspector Varinder Pal Singh Uppal, SHO at Moti Nagar police station said that a case under sections 103 (murder), 63 (rape), 66 (causing death or resulting in persistent vegetative state of victim) of BNS and section 6 of Protecttion of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered against unidentified person.
