Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to initiate various developmental projects in Maharashtra, valued at over Rs 7600 crore, through a video conference on Wednesday, as announced by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Among the key projects is the proposed upgrade of Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur, estimated to cost around Rs 7000 crore. This development is expected to boost growth in sectors such as manufacturing, aviation, tourism, logistics, and healthcare, benefiting both Nagpur and the broader Vidarbha region.
Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for a New Integrated Terminal Building at Shirdi Airport, with an investment exceeding Rs 645 crore. This facility aims to offer world-class amenities to religious tourists, featuring a design inspired by the spiritual neem tree associated with Sai Baba.
In a move to enhance healthcare accessibility, the Prime Minister will also operationalize 10 Government Medical Colleges across Maharashtra, located in cities including Mumbai, Nashik, and Amravati, among others. These institutions aim to increase undergraduate and postgraduate training opportunities while providing specialized tertiary healthcare services.
Furthermore, PM Modi will inaugurate the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Mumbai, developed through a Public-Private Partnership with the Tata Education and Development Trust. The institute aspires to equip students with modern industry skills in fields such as mechatronics, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
Lastly, the inauguration of the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) of Maharashtra will empower students, educators, and administrators by providing real-time access to academic and administrative data through innovative chatbots. This initiative is designed to optimize resource management in schools and enhance educational practices overall.
