Henry Cavill, renowned for his role as Superman, is set to star in the upcoming live-action film adaptation of ‘Voltron.’ The project is directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who co-wrote the script with Ellen Shanman, according to Variety. Thurber is known for his work on Netflix’s 2021 action film “Red Notice,” featuring Gal Gadot, Ryan Reynolds, and Dwayne Johnson, as well as the 2018 film “Skyscraper,” also starring Johnson.

Details about the plot remain unreleased. The film will be produced by Todd Lieberman through Hidden Pictures, along with Bob Koplar, Thurber, and David Hoberman of Hobie Films. Cavill will star alongside Daniel Quinn-Toye, a newcomer who has had television appearances in “Badults” and served as Tom Holland’s understudy in “Romeo & Juliet” on the West End earlier this year.

The “Voltron” franchise centers around a team of space explorers who operate a colossal super robot. It was adapted from multiple Japanese anime series created by Toei Animation and has led to several American versions, including Netflix’s eight-season “Voltron: Legendary Defender.”

Recently, Cavill made a cameo as the Wolverine variant “Cavillrine” in the Marvel summer hit “Deadpool and Wolverine.” He is also set to appear in Chad Stahelski’s reboot of “Highlander” and Guy Ritchie’s action-adventure film “In The Grey,” both projects with Lionsgate.
