Ahead of Samajwadi Chief Akhilesh Yadav’s visit to the Jai Prakash Narayan International Center (JPNIC) in Gomti Nagar on Friday, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Jayaprakash Narayan, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo criticized Yadav, urging him to cease his “dirty politics.” Deo emphasized that Jayaprakash Narayan had shared important lessons in his later years.
In a show of protest, Samajwadi Party workers climbed over barricades outside Yadav’s residence, and one party member was seen chaining himself in protest. Yadav had previously condemned the Uttar Pradesh government for blocking access to JPNIC, which prevented him from attending the commemorative event. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) denied him permission to visit the center.
Yadav expressed his frustration on social media, claiming that the BJP’s actions reflect negativity and are aimed at obstructing the Samajwadi Party from honoring Jayaprakash Narayan’s statue on his birth anniversary, as they had done previously. He accused the BJP of hindering progress in various areas, including social justice, employment, and farmers’ rights.
Additionally, Yadav alleged that the BJP has consistently opposed freedom fighters and the freedom movement, accusing them of aligning with colonial powers and blocking the path to progress. He concluded by stating that there is a widespread sentiment against the BJP.
