Chandigarh: For the fourth consecutive day, record cases of stubble burning were recorded in Punjab. With 162 new cases in a single day, the total number of stubble-burning cases in Punjab has reached 872. In comparison to past years then in the year 2022, 120 cases of stubble burning were reported on this day and in the year 2023, 154 cases were reported. Cases of stubble burning in Punjab are starting to appear in the state. Due to this, the level of pollution has also started increasing.
According to doctors due to increased level of AQI, most people can have difficulty in breathing due to increased pollution levels. Amritsar recorded AQI of 104, Patiala 106, Ludhiana 120, Khanna 82 and Mandi Gobindgarh 80. In Punjab, 123 cases of stubble burning were reported on October 10, 143 on October 11 and 177 on October 12. In these three days, more cases of stubble burning were recorded than in the previous two years.
Even though the state government is making people aware not to burn stubble, large number of cases are coming to the fore every day. A total of 162 cases of stubble burning were registered on Sunday. 48 cases of stubble burning have come to light in Amritsar. Four cases of stubble burning have been registered in Patiala, 26 in Tarn Taran, 38 in Sangrur and 16 in Malerkotla, Gurdaspur and Kapurthala.
