During the ongoing festive season, on Saturday morning, the health department team raided a dairy on Raho Road and destroyed 1.5 quintals of “fake” paneer. According to the health department, they received a tip-off on Saturday morning that a dairy owner had sourced “fake” paneer from a vendor in another district. The department indicated that, based on the tip-off, the vendor had purchased the paneer for 180 rupees per kilogram.
District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Amarjit Kaur stated that she, along with Food Safety Officer Yogesh Goyal and a helper, conducted the raid at the dairy and discovered 1.5 quintals of “fake paneer,” which the owner had procured from Patran in Sangrur district.
This action is part of the health department’s ongoing efforts to ensure food safety during the busy festive season and to protect consumers from counterfeit food products.
