On Tuesday, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu instructed officials to develop a comprehensive Act that consolidates all water-related legislation, which will involve the formation of an expert committee.
During a high-level committee meeting in Shimla, he assured attendees that the current government is committed to safeguarding the interests of the residents of Himachal Pradesh.
The Chief Minister highlighted his administration’s initiatives aimed at improving the financial landscape, stating that effective fiscal reforms have allowed for the distribution of a four percent Dearness Allowance (DA) increase for government employees and pensioners, following a previous seven percent increment. He criticized the former BJP government for its negligence of the state’s interests, which he claimed led to a decline in investment.
He stressed the importance of responsibly utilizing the state’s resources and vigorously pursuing ongoing legal cases. Furthermore, the Chief Minister acknowledged the issues related to global warming and climate change, underscoring the need for studies on the rising incidents of cloud bursts.
