In Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai, police have filed a case against six individuals for allegedly defrauding numerous job seekers of ₹1.31 crore. According to officials, the suspects promised clerical positions in the Indian Railways to 20 people and collected the money through both digital and cash transactions between September 2022 and April 2023.

One of the accused misused the funds for personal purposes, particularly for building a house in Kolhapur. When the victims, residents of Kharghar, sought updates on their job placements, the accused became unresponsive and failed to refund their money. Realizing they had been scammed, the victims reported the matter to the police.

Following their complaint, the Kharghar police registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Monday against the six individuals under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 420 (cheating), Section 406 (criminal breach of trust), and Section 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
