New Delhi: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh accused the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab of financially ruining the state, stating that the Bhagwant Mann government is neither capable of generating revenue nor fulfilling its promises. He described Punjab’s economic situation as a glaring example of financial mismanagement, pointing out that a revenue deficit of ₹18,303 crore in the first six months of the 2024-25 fiscal year reflects the government’s complete failure.
Out of the state’s annual expenditure of ₹60,011 crore, 78% has already been spent on salaries, pensions, interest payments, and subsidies. He noted that this shows that Bhagwant Mann’s government lacks the funds for essential resources related to the development of Punjab. Due to the economic mismanagement of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government, critical projects that the state urgently needs have been stalled.
The BJP National General Secretary sarcastically remarked that the Mann government is incapable of generating revenue and keeping its promises, pushing Punjab towards financial disaster. He said that a revenue deficit-to-fiscal deficit ratio of 86.66% indicates deepening economic troubles for the state. The Aam Aadmi Party’s policy of freebies and uncontrolled spending during elections has devastated Punjab’s financial condition.
Now is the time to hold the Aam Aadmi Party government accountable for this financial indiscipline, as it is obstructing Punjab’s development. Chugh stated that the BJP strongly condemns such foolish and negligent economic policies, which are not only endangering the state’s current progress but also darkening Punjab’s future. The irresponsible decisions being made by the Aam Aadmi Party government are a betrayal of the people of Punjab and also a dangerous gamble with the state’s future.
