This team will visit three districts namely Shimla, Mandi and Kullu. There was a lot of loss of life and property in these districts after the cloudburst during the monsoon.
Now life has started returning to normal. In such a situation, the central team will now go and assess the destruction caused during monsoon in Himachal. This team will prepare a report of the loss and give it to the central government. On the basis of this report, the central government will give relief amount to Himachal Pradesh.
Let us tell you that on August 1, 55 people went missing at three places due to cloudbursts. 36 people were swept away in the flood along with the entire village in Samej of Rampur in Shimla district. 9 people in Kullu and 10 people in Mandi were swept away in the flood or got trapped in the debris after heavy rains.
This year, government and private property worth Rs 1360 crore was destroyed due to heavy rains during the monsoon. Every year the central government gives a budget to compensate for the destruction caused by rain, but before that, the central team comes to the spot and sees the destruction.
According to the State Disaster Management Authority, PWD has suffered the most property worth Rs 633 crores. Jal Shakti Department has suffered a loss of 540 crores, Horticulture Department has suffered a loss of 139 crores, Agriculture Department has suffered a loss of 1.32 crores, Electricity Board has suffered a loss of 98 lakhs. In Himachal, 342 people have lost their lives due to various reasons since June 27. At the same time, 28 people are still missing.
