Delhi police have arrested two individuals in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old social media influencer, who was reportedly seven months pregnant. The victim, Soni, was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, Sanju alias Saleem, after she pressured him for marriage. Soni was active on social media and had nearly 7,000 Instagram followers.
Soni’s family reported her missing on October 22, raising suspicions about her boyfriend, whom she referred to as “ghost.” In response, the Delhi police formed special investigation teams. The authorities apprehended Sanju and his friend Pankaj, both of whom confessed to the crime. Another friend, Ritik, is also implicated and remains at large.
According to police statements, the incident occurred on October 21, during Karwa Chauth when Soni was fasting. After an argument, Sanju arranged a meeting with Soni and enlisted the help of Pankaj and Ritik for a long drive. During the trip to Rohtak, they killed her and buried her body in a four-foot-deep pit in an abandoned area in Madina, Rohtak district.
Police recovered Soni’s body from the grave, revealing that she had been pressuring Sanju to marry her while he advised her to terminate the pregnancy. Unable to cope with the situation, Sanju conspired to murder her with the help of his friends. Authorities are actively pursuing the arrest of Ritik.
