Ludhiana: Last night at around 11:45 in Ludhiana, Shiv Sena Samajwadi’s business wing chief Rajan Rana, his brother, and nephew were attacked by some youths riding a scooter with sharp weapons. Rana has sustained injuries on his head, forehead, and arm. The attackers fled from the spot after assaulting him while his companion was caught with the help of people.
Rana was taken to the Civil Hospital from where he was taken to DMC Hospital. At the time of the incident, Rajan Rana’s security personnel was not present with him.
Rajan Rana said he was returning home in his car with his family after celebrating his younger brother Bobby’s birthday. Some youths were standing on the carts of paratha sellers in Chowda Bazaar. His nephew Piyush honked at those youths because there was less space on the road. Meanwhile, the angry youths started abusing him. They hit Rana’s car with their scooter. After which the said youth started abusing him. The same youth called about a dozen youths and attacked.
Rajan Rana, his brother Bobby, and nephew Piyush were seriously injured in the attack. The injured were taken to the civil hospital. Rana was treated at the hospital and sent to DMC hospital. Police from Thana Division Number 3 reached the spot.
SHO Amritpal Sharma of Thana Division Number 2 said the police will check the CCTV cameras installed at the incident site. The matter is under the notice of senior officials. Investigation is on to find out the reason for the attack and arrest all the attackers.
