New Delhi: Ola Electric’s assertion that it has resolved 99.1% of the 10,644 complaints lodged with the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) concerning its inadequate after-sales service is under scrutiny by the Department of Consumer Affairs. Officials are currently reviewing the company’s responses to these complaints to verify their accuracy.

Sources indicate that the CCPA is meticulously evaluating the claims made by the electric two-wheeler manufacturer, and will compare each consumer complaint against Ola Electric’s responses to assess their validity.

Additionally, reports suggest that another electric vehicle company may soon receive a notice from the CCPA regarding consumer complaints. Complaints against electric vehicles that have been submitted to the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) will also be reviewed.

Ola Electric’s shares traded at approximately Rs 78 on Monday, reflecting a nearly 50% decline from its peak of Rs 157.40.

Earlier this month, the CCPA issued a notice to the company after the NCH received over 10,000 complaints in the past year related to its subpar after-sales service. Should Ola Electric’s claims not meet the regulator’s expectations, the company may face legal consequences and could potentially lose the subsidies it qualifies for under the PM Electric DRIVE Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) scheme.

Meanwhile, consumer dissatisfaction with Ola Electric persists on social media. One frustrated customer tweeted, “@OlaElectric @bhash, please respond to my email. I’ve sent reminders but received no reply regarding the replaced battery warranty. I expect a minimum of 10 years’ warranty for batteries since they are a costly component in the scooter. You should stand behind your product.”

Another user expressed disappointment, stating, “The scooter was delivered forcibly, and look at the quality of work done by your team, which took 30 days. @jagograhakjago, no one seems to question this company. It’s deeply disappointing that 99% of issues are closed forcibly.”

A different customer reported a serious issue, saying, “Dear @OlaElectric @ola_supports, my S1 Pro has completely died with 27% battery remaining in the middle of the night. The power button isn’t responding, and restarting isn’t working. We’re stranded.”
