Jalandhar: The District Administration Office in Jalandhar, Punjab will be gheraoed by farmers today. This gherao will be done from around 11 am to 3 pm. This announcement was made on the call of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha on behalf of the farmer organizations.
The farmer organization Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) recently called an emergency meeting online. In the meeting, paddy lifting and its purchase were discussed, after which talks were also held with the Punjab government regarding this.
The farmers have said that looking at the condition of the mandis and the lifting conditions of paddy, it seems that paddy will have to be sold at a rate lower than the MSP. Farmers also reported that they are not getting DAP fertilizer due to black marketing.
Given the tardy paddy procurement and non-availibility of DAP fertilizer, Farmers will gherao the administration office in Jalandhar. The Jalandhar Administrative Office will be gheraoed by the farmers today from 11 am to 3 pm.
