West Bengal: In the tragic incident in Barrackpore, North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, a man took his own life after killing his wife. The couple, identified as Kamal Karmakar and Bimala Karmakar, were found on Saturday. Kamal reportedly ingested poison to end his life after the attack. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations.

Local authorities from Mohanpur Police Station are investigating the matter. Relatives revealed that Kamal, a habitual drinker, often returned home intoxicated and would frequently argue with Bimala. They also reported that he had a history of physically abusing her and making public threats to her life. Bimala, described as a timid individual, endured the abuse silently.

The family claims that Kamal would unjustly accuse her of infidelity, despite there being no basis for such claims. Despite their efforts to help him overcome these unfounded suspicions, he remained resolute.

On the night before the incident, Bimala was reportedly sleeping in another room when Kamal came home heavily intoxicated. He called her into their room, where he had secretly prepared sharp weapons to harm her. The next morning, when the door was forced open, Bimala was found dead in a pool of blood, while Kamal was still alive. Neighbors and relatives attempted to transport him to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
