At least 42 Palestinians were killed and over 150 injured in Israeli air and artillery strikes on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, according to Palestinian medical sources. The bombardment of residential homes began early on Friday, as reported by local security sources on Saturday.
The government media office in Gaza condemned the attacks, labeling them as “deliberate targeting of civilians, including women and children,” and urged the international community to intervene and pressure Israel to cease its actions against Gaza’s civilian population.
In a statement on Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) mentioned conducting operations in Rafah and central Gaza aimed at eliminating militants, dismantling militant infrastructure, and finding weapons.
This wave of attacks is part of Israel’s extensive military campaign against Hamas in Gaza, initiated in response to a Hamas assault on Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, which resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths and around 250 kidnappings.
According to health authorities in Gaza, the total number of Palestinian casualties from Israeli assaults has now reached 43,314.
