Jalandhar: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann attended the Punjab Provincial Arya Maha Sammelan at a private university in Phagwara, celebrating the 200th birth anniversary of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati.
The event witnessed a large gathering of people from the Arya Samaj and various other organizations. Senior political leaders, including Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat, were also present alongside the Chief Minister. Mann highlighted Dayanand Saraswati’s deep connection to Punjab, emphasizing that while the saint was born in Gujarat, it was in Punjab where his revolutionary ideas found fertile ground and inspired many to become freedom fighters. “Punjab is the land of revolutionaries, and it was here that Dayanand ji lit the flame of revolution,” CM Mann remarked.
“Today, more than 4.5 lakh children are being educated in the institutions run by the Arya Samaj. These children are being nurtured with knowledge and values, and I salute this educational legacy,” he said. CM Mann also took the opportunity to underscore the importance of unity and harmony in addressing the challenges facing the country today.
The Chief Minister also referred to India as a symbol of unity in diversity, using the metaphor of a bouquet made up of flowers of all kinds. “Our India is a bouquet that includes all the colors, all the traditions, and all the cultures of the world. This is the strength of my great India, where every individual, no matter their background, has a place,” he said. Mann’s speech also carried a message of optimism for the future, stressing the need for collective action to ensure that Punjab remains a land of progress, unity, and peace. “In the face of all challenges, we will stand strong, just as we have always stood,” he affirmed.
