Jalandhar (Punjab): In a significant achievement against the international drug trafficking network, the Jalandhar rural police in Punjab arrested a Tanzanian citizen during a special operation on Thursday in Adamupur and seized 184 grams of heroin from her possession.
The arrested individual’s identity has been confirmed as Padiva Nimete Bhayal Lab Khairati Fabian Semwija, the daughter of Rocky Fabian, a resident of Kaliko Police Station, Muchinga, Tanzania. She had been residing in Tughlaqabad Extension, Delhi. Senior Superintendent of Police Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh stated on Friday that this operation is a part of the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking in the district. He mentioned, “Our teams are working around the clock to identify and dismantle the active drug trafficking networks in the area.”
While on routine patrol near Prime City Chuharwali in Adamupur, the police team observed a woman exhibiting suspicious behavior. Noticing the police presence, she attempted to throw a packet into the nearby grass, which was promptly recovered by the female police officers accompanying the team.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had entered India barely a month ago, indicating potential links to the international drug trafficking network. The police have seized her mobile phone and are analyzing call details to trace her connections. The arrested individual will be presented in court, where the police will request her remand to further investigate the links in the drug supply chain. SSP Khakh stated, “We are particularly interested in identifying her international operators and local contacts.”
