Seoul: Kim Yo-jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, warned on Sunday that South Korea would face serious consequences for sending propaganda leaflets across the border a day earlier. As the vice department director of the ruling Workers’ Party, she criticized South Korea for dropping “various kinds of political agitation leaflets and dirty things” near the border and inland, as reported by Yonhap news agency.
In a statement released by the North’s Korean Central News Agency, she condemned what she called the “shameful and dirty acts” of South Korean people, referring to them as “ROK scum,” for their continued provocations despite prior warnings. She likened the act of scattering the leaflets to dirtying a clean yard, adding that even a dog would dislike such rubbish.
North Korea has expressed strong outrage over South Korean activists releasing balloons that carry anti-Pyongyang leaflets and goods. Kim noted that North Korean security forces have cordoned off areas where the leaflets were found and are in the process of disposing of them.
She emphasized that patience has its limits, stating that the anger of the North Korean people has reached a breaking point and that those responsible will indeed “pay a dear price.”
