Tehran: A chlorine gas leak in Isfahan province, Iran, has resulted in 60 people being poisoned, according to the official news agency IRNA. The incident occurred at 1:40 PM local time on Sunday when a semi-trailer truck carrying chlorine gas cylinders overturned on an intercity road in Shahreza County, located 80 km south of Isfahan.
Rescue teams were promptly dispatched to the site, as reported by Mansour Shishehforoush, the director general of the provincial crisis management department. The leak from one of the cylinders caused pulmonary toxicity in nearby residents, who were quickly taken to medical facilities for treatment.
Shishehforoush noted that teams from various agencies, including the provincial crisis management department, the Red Crescent Society, traffic police, and law enforcement, worked to secure the area, allowing the affected road to be reopened.
