Chandigarh: After the snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, the cold has started increasing in Punjab and Chandigarh. However, there has not been much change in the last 24 hours but in the coming 5 days, the temperature will drop by 2 to 5 degrees.
The fog alert in Punjab is still in effect today. Even today, visibility in many districts of Punjab will be less than 50 meters. At the same time, there is no fog alert in Chandigarh, but pollution is suffocating and making it difficult for people to breathe.
According to the Meteorological Center, the effect of fog will be seen in 14 districts of Punjab, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala Mansa and Sangrur. A yellow alert has been issued here.
At the same time, the situation is expected to become normal from Tuesday. The effect of fog will also reduce, while the sky will also be clear. The temperature will also start falling and the cold will start increasing.
The winds from Punjab-Haryana are suffocating the capital Chandigarh. The situation is such that Chandigarh has become a gas chamber. Pollution in Chandigarh is in the red zone and the maximum AQI there has been recorded at 382 whereas people in Punjab have got some relief. Amritsar, whose situation was very bad, has also seen AQI reaching close to 200. On the other hand in all the cities except Ludhiana and Amritsar, AQI is being recorded below 200.
