Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on November 18 to attend the G20 Summit hosted by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. In a message on X, PM Modi expressed his anticipation for the summit discussions and meaningful conversations with global leaders.

As a significant member of the G20 Troika alongside Brazil and South Africa, India has been instrumental in guiding the summit talks. During the summit, PM Modi plans to present India’s perspectives on key global issues, building on the outcomes of the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration and the Voice of the Global South Summits held in India over the past two years.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), PM Modi is also expected to hold meetings with several world leaders during the summit’s sidelines.

After the G20 Summit, PM Modi will head to Georgetown, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana since 1968. From November 19-21, at the invitation of President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, he will conduct bilateral discussions, meet senior officials, and address both the Parliament of Guyana and the Indian diaspora.

Last year, President Ali visited India as the Chief Guest at the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Indore, where he received the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman.

In Georgetown, the Prime Minister will also participate in the Second CARICOM-India Summit and engage with leaders from CARICOM member countries to strengthen India’s long-standing relationships in the region.
