Temp dips in Haryana: Fog alert in 7 districts; Timings of government offices changed in Faridabad

An advisory has been issued for 50 percent of the employees to work from home in Gurugram-Faridabad.

Faridabad: Cold is increasing continuously in Haryana. The minimum temperature has gone below 10 degrees in 8 districts. Hisar had the coldest night of the season. Here the minimum temperature fell by 0.5 degrees to 7.8 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Rohtak was 22.8 degrees. This is 5.4 degrees below normal.

Meteorologists say that the night temperature may fall further. There is a possibility of fog at some places on 22 and 23 November. Western disturbance may show its effect in the mountains on 23 November. Its effect will be seen in the form of cold in the plains.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of dense fog in many districts till November 23. These include Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Sonipat and Panipat. While a yellow alert of dense fog has been issued in Fatehabad, Hisar and Jind from 21 to 23 November. Here, dense fog troubled people on Tuesday as well. Visibility reached zero in Ambala.

In view of the smog and increasing pollution, the administration has declared holidays for classes up to 12th in 13 districts of the state and up to 5th in one district. Due to pollution in Haryana, out of the 14 districts included in NCR, schools up to 5th have been closed in 13 Rohtak, Bhiwani, Panipat, Jind, Charkhi Dadri, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Palwal, Sonipat, Nuh, Faridabad, Gurugram, Jhajjar and Karnal.

Online classes will be held in these districts. An advisory has been issued for 50 percent of the employees to work from home in Gurugram-Faridabad.

Faridabad Deputy Commissioner Vikram Singh said that in view of the serious level of air pollution in district Faridabad, in compliance with the instructions issued by the Air Quality Management Commission, the district administration has implemented different office timings for public offices in the district.

He said that the following office timings will be effective in all public offices of district Faridabad till further orders. Offices under the state government will be open from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm and offices under Municipal Corporation, Faridabad will be open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

The Deputy Commissioner said that in view of the level of pollution, the State Education Department has decided to keep the schools closed till November 23.
