Unprecedented victory: Deputy CM Devendra Fadanvis
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said that the people of Maharashtra have given Mahayuti an “unprecedented victory” and there “will be no dispute on CM face”.
“The people of Maharashtra have given us an unprecedented victory. This shows that people are with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In line with the slogan he gave ‘ek hain toh safe hain’, people from all sections and communities voted for us unitedly…,” Fadnavis told reporters here. “This is the victory of Mahayuti, CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and Ramdas Athawale, this is the victory of unity…,” he added.
Answering a query, he said it had been decided that leaders of three parties would sit together and decide on the chief minister. “There will be no dispute on the CM’s face. It was decided from day one that after the elections, the leaders of the three parties would sit together and decide on this. The decision will be acceptable to everyone, there is no dispute on this,” he said.
Thank all workers of Mahayuti, BJP high command: CM Eknath Shinde
With the Mahayuti alliance inching closer to victory and likely to form the government in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde thanked the BJP high command for their support in prioritising Maharashtra.
Speaking about the alliance’s success, Shinde said, “I thank all the workers of Mahayuti. PM Modi, Amit Shah bhai, Nadda ji – all supported us. They gave priority to Maharashtra. I am proud that I have been proven right about what I had said that we will win 200 seats. We (Mahayuti) fought like a team…”
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CMs Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis, as the Mahayuti alliance approached a landslide victory in the 2024 Assembly elections.
Earlier, CM Shinde stated that the alliance would collectively decide on the Chief Minister’s face once the final results are declared. “Let the final results come in… Then, in the same way as we fought elections together, all three parties will sit together and take a decision (on who will be the CM),” he said.
Reason of victory is PM Modi: Ramdas Athawale
Union Minister and Republic Party of India’s (Athawale) President Ramdas Athawale expressed confidence in Mahayuti alliance’s victory margin will increase as more and the counting of votes progresses, saying that the alliance’s landslide victory is on the basis of all the developmental schemes by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state government.
Attributing the victory of the Mahayuti alliance to the development schemes, specifically the Ladki Bahin Yojana, and expressed confidence in the alliance increasing its victory margin and even winning more than 225 seats as the counting concludes.
“The reason for the victory is the development role of PM Modi in ‘sabka saath sabka vikas’ and the decisions taken by the Maharashtra government in the last 2.5 years. A lot of those decisions were anyway great, but the Ladki Bahin (yojana) decision was definitely revolutionary… We are confident that we can get up to 225-230 seats,” he told ANI.

All eyes will be on the much-awaited counting of votes for the Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, which will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday. Early trends are expected to trickle in by 9 a.m., offering the first glimpse into the outcome of these high-stakes battles.
Results of the bypolls held across 48 assembly constituencies and two parliamentary seats in 14 states will also be declared on Saturday. The BJP, buoyed by its performance in Haryana’s Assembly elections after setbacks in the Lok Sabha polls, is eyeing a decisive win in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
In Maharashtra, the party is allied with the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Meanwhile, the Congress and its INDIA bloc allies are aiming to retain Jharkhand and wrest power from the ruling MahaYuti alliance in Maharashtra.
The ruling INDIA bloc, led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), is striving to retain power for a second term. The BJP-led NDA, however, is determined to wrest control, leveraging anti-incumbency and corruption allegations. Jharkhand witnessed high-octane campaigning, with the BJP accusing the JMM-led government of corruption and appeasement politics, while Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s coalition countered with welfare promises and criticism of the alleged misuse of central agencies.
