Municipal elections will be held in Punjab at the end of December; Government issues notification

The elections will be held for 5 municipal corporations Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Phagwara as well as 44 city councils and panchayats.

Chandigarh: The results of by-elections held on four assembly seats in Punjab are being announced today (23 November), while the government has started preparing for another election. The government will conduct elections for 5 municipal corporations and 44 city councils and municipal panchayats in the month of December.

The government has issued a notification in this regard after the order of the Supreme Court. At the same time, now the program for this election will be issued by the State Election Commission. However, earlier the government wanted to conduct these elections in March after completing the ward division.

According to the notification issued by the state government, elections will be held for 5 municipal corporations Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Phagwara as well as 44 city councils and panchayats. Similarly, by-elections will be held in 43 wards of different city councils.
