HPTDC employees seek replacement of chairman, allege conspiracy of privatization of hotels

The angry employees accused RS Bali of recruiting 70 people from his constituency in various hotels.

Shimla: HPTDC employees put forth their issues in front of the media in a press conference in Shimla. In a press conference today, i.e. on Saturday, the corporation employees demanded the replacement of the corporation’s chairman R.S. Bali. According to the employees, the corporation employees and pensioners tried to meet the chairman several times regarding their issues, but he did not give time.

The corporation employees said that the hotels that were said to be in loss are not in loss. The figures have been presented wrongly in court. The employees also suspected a conspiracy behind this so that those hotels could be privatized. According to the employees, a meeting of the BOD (Board of Directors of Tourism Corporation) was also held on November 5, but no one was told what happened in it.

The angry employees accused RS Bali of recruiting 70 people from his constituency in various hotels. In such a situation, the employees have requested that the remaining 9 hotels should also be given concessions.

Also, the corporation employees have requested the state government to give a relief amount of Rs 50 crore to the corporation so that the liabilities can be settled.

It is worth noting that on November 20, the Himachal High Court had issued orders to close 18 loss-making hotels of HPTDC by November 25. Later, 9 hotels were given relief till March 31, while the remaining 9 hotels have to be closed by the day after tomorrow i.e. November 25.
