Haryana: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated in Jind that he has fulfilled the promise of classifying Scheduled Castes made before the assembly elections, which was a major demand of the DSC community. He acknowledged that the support of this community led to the BJP forming the government in the state for the third time.

While addressing attendees at the Maharshi Valmiki ceremony, the Chief Minister announced an increase in the salaries of sanitation workers. Currently, sanitation workers earn approximately 16,000 to 17,000 rupees, which will now be raised to 26,000 rupees. In the event of a sanitation worker’s death while on duty, their family will receive financial assistance of 1 million rupees.

In the direct recruitment for government services, 10 percent of the reserved 20 percent quota will be allocated for candidates from Scheduled Castes. If suitable candidates from the deprived Scheduled Castes are not available, the remaining vacancies will be filled by other Scheduled Caste candidates. If there are also no suitable candidates in that group, the remaining positions will be considered for other deprived castes. Until now, Scheduled Castes have received 1.5 percent reservation in the first and second categories. Additionally, 50 percent of sanitation contracts in the state will be awarded to sanitation friends and their groups. A Haryana State Sanitation Employees Commission has also been established to protect the interests of sanitation workers.
