Vigilance Bureau arrests Tehsildar red-handed while taking bribe in Barnala

The accused Tehsildar was arrested by the Vigilance team from the Tehsil Complex Tapa Mandi.

Barnala: Vigilance Bureau Punjab has caught a Tehsildar red-handed while taking a bribe in Barnala. Tehsildar Sukhcharan Singh was caught red-handed while taking bribe of Rs 20,000 by setting a trap in Tapa Mandi of Barnala. Rs 20,000 was demanded from a farmer in exchange for land registration, after which the said farmer brought the matter to the notice of Vigilance. Today, the accused Tehsildar was arrested by the Vigilance team from the Tehsil Complex Tapa Mandi. The accused Tehsildar is also being told to be the state president of the Association.

On this occasion, DSP Vigilance said that under the ongoing corruption-free campaign of the Vigilance Department, a Tehsildar Sukhcharan Singh was caught red-handed while taking bribe in Tapa Mandi today. He said that Tehsildar Sukhcharan Singh of Tapa was arrested red-handed while taking bribe of Rs 20,000. Vigilance was approached by Amrik Singh with the help of his friend. After this action has been taken.

The accused Tehsildar is a resident of the complainant Amrik Singh village Bihla. The Vigilance has laid a trap and arrested Tehsildar Sukhcharan Singh on the spot along with the bribe money in this case.

DSP Vigilance said that in this case only the Tehsildar has been arrested for now and this matter will be investigated further. A case has been registered against the accused and further action has been initiated. He said that the accused had demanded bribe from the complainant in exchange for a perfectly legitimate work. DSP Vigilance said that he does not know anything about whether the accused is the president of the Tehsildar Association or not. The accused will be produced in court tomorrow.
