Pathankot: Car falls into canal; ASI father critical, daughter dead

Locals informed the police, and with the help of the district administration, the canal water was shut off, and the body of the deceased girl was recovered.

Pathankot: In a tragic incident, a car fell into the UVDCS canal near Jaswali village in Pathankot today. Father and daughter were in the car at that time. In this incident, the daughter died in the accident, while the father is in critical condition. With the help of local people, both were pulled out of the car. Police officers who arrived at the scene shut off the canal water and used a crane to pull the car out.

The two were returning home after paying their respects at Gurudwara Sri Barath Sahib. Their white I20 car (registration number PB-18X4312) fell into the UVDCS canal near Jaswali village. They are said to be from Batala, and the man rescued from the car is an ASI (Assistant Sub-Inspector) in the police force.

As soon as locals were informed, they rushed to the canal bank to help. They managed to rescue the father alive, but the daughter, who is around 18 years old, drowned and died. Locals informed the police, and with the help of the district administration, the canal water was shut off, and the body of the deceased girl was recovered.

The car was also pulled out with the help of a crane. SSP Pathankot Daljinder Singh Dhillon said that he had received information that a car had fallen into the UVDC canal near village Jaswali. Two people in the car were said to be father and daughter. He said that the father was rescued by the local people. But the daughter died.
