Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh): The district administration of Bilaspur is set to enhance the tourism experience at Govind Sagar Lake by introducing parasailing activities. A leading Delhi-based company, currently operating in Tehri, has been invited to conduct trial operations for this project. The company will carry out parasailing activities in the lake for the next two months. This announcement was made by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bilaspur, Aabid Hussain Sadiq.
Parasailing Trial: Process and Safety Standards
The district administration has granted all necessary approvals for the project. The company will bring its parasailing boats to Bilaspur in the first week of December, marking the beginning of the trial phase. During this period, a technical committee of experts will oversee the activities. Based on the trial report, the District Regulation Committee will decide on granting permission for permanent operations.
Enhancement of Existing Facilities
Govind Sagar Lake already attracts tourists with its existing offerings, including cruise rides and shikara boating. Adding parasailing to these facilities is expected to further boost the lake’s appeal and establish Bilaspur as a hub for water adventure activities.
A New Initiative in Tourism: Adventure with Employment Opportunities
The introduction of parasailing is not just about thrilling experiences for adventure enthusiasts; it also aims to create employment opportunities and foster local development. This initiative seeks to position Bilaspur as a leading destination for water sports and tourism. According to DC Bilaspur, the influx of tourists will also promote growth in allied industries such as hotels, restaurants, and handicrafts in the area.
Plans to Promote Tourism
Future plans include introducing more water sports activities in Govind Sagar Lake. If the trial is successful, parasailing will be permanently added to the lake’s attractions. Formal permits will be issued, and a structured framework for operations will be developed to ensure smooth and safe functioning.
