Chandigarh: A strong protest was organized in front of the Gaudiya Math Temple in Sector 20, Chandigarh, led by Ruby Gupta, President of Voice of Women Chandigarh, along with several Hindu organizations and leaders. The protest was aimed at condemning the Bangladesh government and its acting head, Mohammad Yunus, for the persecution of Hindus and the arrest of ISKCON monk, Chinmoy Prabhu.
Hindu activists stormed the effigy of the Bangladeshi leader with shoes, shouting slogans of protest. During the rally, Swami Baman Ji Maharaj of ISKCON emphasized that the organization promotes love, peace, and brotherhood and that violence has no place in it. He condemned the wrongful arrest of Chinmoy Prabhu by the Bangladeshi government. ISKCON Chandigarh head, Gaurang Hari Priya Das, addressed the gathering, calling the arrest and ongoing persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh part of a deliberate conspiracy and urged world leaders to intervene.
Ruby Gupta, in her speech, reminded that India had helped in the creation of Bangladesh in 1971, and Indian soldiers had made great sacrifices. However, today, Bangladesh is crossing all boundaries in mistreating its Hindu population. She called for immediate intervention by the Indian government and said a memorandum would be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to appeal for action to ensure the safety and rights of Hindus in Bangladesh.
Rajeev Jindal, Managing Director of Ramdevi Jindal Engineering College, criticized global human rights organizations for their silence on the persecution of Hindus and expressed his anger during the protest, which involved loud slogans and the symbolic act of throwing shoes at an effigy of Mohammad Yunus.
