The Canadian government has kept Arsh Dalla’s court hearing confidential. They have imposed a ban on live broadcasting or video recording of the hearing, which is still in effect.
The Indian government seeks Arsh Dala’s extradition in connection with approximately in over 50 cases of murder, attempt to murder, extortion and terrorist acts, including terror financing. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has declared him a most-wanted Khalistani terrorist.
When Arsh Dalla was apprehended in Canada, the Indian government provided a dossier to the Canadian authorities and requested his extradition. However, the Canadian government has yet to act on this matter.
Indian agencies had requested the Canadian government for his provisional arrest in July last year, which was declined, the MEA said. However, the Indian side expects he will now “be extradited or deported to face justice in India”.
MEA have seen media reports circulating since November 10 on the arrest in Canada of proclaimed offender Arsh Singh Gill alias Arsh Dalla, the de-facto chief of the Khalistan Tiger Force. Canadian print and visual media have widely reported on the arrest.
