Sydney: A 31-year-old man is set to appear in court on Sunday after being charged with the alleged murders of two individuals in western Sydney, as reported by police. The man was arrested at his residence in Canley Heights around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The incident came to police attention at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Saturday when they received reports of an assault at a shop on Oxford Street in Cambridge Park, located about 53 kilometers west of Sydney’s central business district. Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of a 69-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman.
The man was taken to Fairfield Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of murder and denied bail, with a court appearance scheduled at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday. Authorities allege that all three individuals were familiar with one another.
The victims have been identified by the Sydney Morning Herald as Hoa Tek Chiem, 69, and Heang Kim Gau, 68, a couple who owned the Buzzy Bee Burger House in Cambridge Park. Police arrested the suspect, Allan Chiem, shortly after midnight at his home in Canley Heights.
