Dera Baba Nanak: A person died today after consuming poisonous liquor in village Haruwal under Dera Baba Nanak police station. The deceased’s brother Jagir Singh and Kashmir Singh, residents of Haruwal, said that his brother Randhir Singh (51) died last night after consuming poisonous liquor that was being sold openly in the village.
On this, prominent people of the village Hardev Singh, Baba Sukhdev Singh, Tarsem Singh, former Sarpanch Nirmal Singh, Parminder Singh, Baba Satnam Singh and Tarjinder Singh, etc. said that this is not the first death due to liquor in village Haruwal. They said that before this too many deaths had occurred due to consumption of illicit and poisonous liquor but this business is still going on openly.
They have demanded from MLA Gurdeep Singh Randhawa and senior police officials that the illegal liquor business running in village Haruwal should be stopped immediately and strict action should be taken against those who make and sell poisonous liquor.
DSP Joga Singh of Dera Baba Nanak police station said that he has not received any written complaint regarding death due to poisonous liquor, but still, strict legal action will be taken by investigating the people of the village and filing cases against those involved in the illegal liquor business.
