Snowfall in high altitude areas of Himachal for next 48 hours, Manali-Leh, Koksar-Losar routes closed

After the snowfall during the last 24 hours, tourists are also reaching the mountains of Lahaul Spiti to see the snow.

There is a possibility of snowfall on the high mountains of Himachal Pradesh today and tomorrow. Yesterday evening also, fresh snowfall of up to two inches occurred in Rohtang, Baralacha, and Kunjum Pass. After this, the movement of vehicles to Rohtang Top, Shinkula and Kunjum Pass has been completely stopped.

Manali-Leh Highway, Koksar-Losar, and Darcha-Sachru routes have also had to be closed, as the roads have become dangerous due to snow accumulation. After the snowfall during the last 24 hours, tourists are also reaching the mountains of Lahaul Spiti to see the snow.

But amid bad weather, tourists cannot be allowed to go to Rohtang Top, Baralacha, Shinkula Pass, and Kunjum Pass. Snowfall occurs in these areas at any time and there is a possibility of getting stuck.

Similarly, due to the accumulation of snow on the road, the slipperiness of vehicles has increased. Due to the temperature being in minus in the high areas, black ice is forming on the roads. The flowing water is freezing and turning into black ice. In view of this, Lahaul Spiti Police has advised to avoid traveling to high altitudes and drive carefully.

According to the Meteorological Department, light snowfall may occur on the high peaks of Chamba, Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur, and Kangra during the next 48 hours. The weather forecast is to remain clear in other areas. The weather will become clear in the entire state from December 4 and there is no possibility of rain or snowfall for the next two weeks.
