Amritsar: Abiding by the religious punishment announced by Akal Takht for Sukhbir Badal and others, today former deputy CM Sukhbir Badal reached Golden Temple on a wheelchair. Earlier in the day he was seen sitting by the gate at Golden Temple in Amritsar with a plaque around his neck and spear in his hand. He was also wearing uniform of Sevadar, as per the directives.

Sukhbir Singh Badal was sitting in a wheelchair due to plaster casts on his feet and leg. As per the orders of the Singh Sahibs, he has to perform this seva from 9 am to 10 am. During this time, he will also perform other services including cleaning the utensils in the langar today.

The punishment includes a directive to perform as a ‘sewadar’ and clean utensils and shoes at the Golden Temple. Akal Takht issued the punishments for him citing the ‘mistakes’ committed by SAD and its government in Punjab from 2007 to 2017.

As per the orders of the Akal Takht, senior Akali leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa has also reached to perform seva wearing the sevadar’s robe, holding a spear in his hand, and wearing a plaque around his neck. Both the leaders are performing this seva sitting on both sides of the Clock Tower.

Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa after arriving in the golden temple said, “The order for ‘sewa’ is an order for me. This is the order of the Almighty that has been pronounced for me by Akal Takht… I will sit by the gate, I will also offer my services at ‘langar’…
