Barnala: A district-level oath ceremony of new panchayats was organized in Barnala today. In this function, 175 Sarpanchs and 1285 Panchs of 175 Panchayats took oath. Their oath-taking could not take place earlier due to the assembly by-election. Since code of conduct was in force in districts where voting took place and thus swearing in of members of panchayat could not take place earlier.
The program was held at Baba Kala Mahal Stadium in Barnala. MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer attended the program as chief guest. During this, Deputy Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur, AAP MLA Kulwant Singh Pandori, and others were also present.
MP Meet Hayer congratulated all the Sarpanchs and Panchs during the oath-taking ceremony. He said that Sarpanchs have been elected unanimously in 18 Panchayats of Barnala district. The people of these villages have risen above party politics and unanimously elected Panchayats, which is highly commendable.
He said that from now on, it is expected from the group Panchs and Sarpanchs that all the Panchayats will work for the people of their villages without any bias. He said that the government has been making efforts for the development of villages earlier and in the future also grants will be given without any bias.
