20 Palestinians killed in Israeli strike on Gaza

Gaza: At least 20 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a shelter for displaced individuals located west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, as reported by Palestinian sources. Eyewitnesses indicated that Israeli warplanes targeted the shelter in the Mawasi area with at least one missile. The Palestinian Civil Defence service reported.

The Palestinian Civil Defence service reported that their teams are working to extinguish a fire that broke out in the tents following the attack. Medics informed Xinhua that emergency crews retrieved the bodies of at least 20 victims, which included five children, and transported many others injured to hospitals.

The Israeli military has not yet released a statement regarding the incident. Israel has been conducting extensive military operations against Hamas in response to the attacks on its southern border on October 7, 2023, which resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths and around 250 hostages taken. According to Gaza-based health authorities, the total Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli assaults in Gaza has reached 44,532.
