Ludhiana: Last night in Ludhiana, some people beat up a former Sarpanch of the village. As per reports, in Dev Nagar on Pakhowal Road, some people beat up a former Congress Sarpanch and two others along with him. The miscreants attacked the Sarpanch with sharp weapons on his head. He was beaten badly with baseball bats. It is said that the attack on him was a result of his opposition to people selling drugs.
For this reason, he has been beaten up many times before. The injured were identified as former Sarpanch Kor Chand, son Vikram and Ram Kirpal.
Giving information, the injured Kor Chand said that he has a grocery shop in the area where he was selling goods as usual. Then three youths who were standing outside his shop surrounding a youth for selling drugs. When he opposed them, the youths called their friends and attacked the shop and vandalized it.
On coming to know about the attack, his son Vikram and a person from the area, Ram Kirpal, came to intervene. The attackers attacked them too. The three injured in the attack got their medical done at the Civil Hospital and complained about the matter to the police of Sadar police station. Chand said that due to the lack of police patrolling in the area, drug smugglers supply drugs openly.
