Punjab Govt announces winter vacation from December 24th, schools to resume from Jan 1

Schools will resume from January 1, 2025

Chandigarh: The Punjab government has announced winter vacations in all schools in the state in view of the increasing cold. Schools will remain closed from December 24 to December 31. Orders have been issued to all Punjab government schools in this regard. The announcement of holidays has been made in regard to the winter season. Schools will resume from January 1, 2025

Punjab Weather Update

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be snowfall and rain in the higher altitude areas till December 10. After this, the cold may intensify in the plains. Due to the snowfall in the mountains, the weather had started taking a turn. The temperature has also been continuously falling in the past. The temperature in Punjab has been recorded to have dropped by 1.6 degrees and in Chandigarh by 2.6 degrees.

The Meteorological Department believes that the cold will increase further in the coming days.

Currently, it is snowing in Himachal Pradesh. The temperature in the plains is going to fall due to the cold winds coming from the mountains. If the department is to be believed, the cold may increase further in the state from December 11. Given this, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for a cold wave after December 11 in Punjab.
