Hisar: A severe cold has started in Haryana. The mercury is going towards freezing point in Hisar, Narnaul, Bhiwani, and Sirsa adjoining Rajasthan. Frost has started forming in these areas. There is no hope of relief from the cold in the coming days.
The temperature of 5 cities has been recorded as lower than Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla. The minimum temperature in Shimla has been recorded at 4.4 degrees. While the temperature in Hisar was 1.7, in Narnaul 3.8, in Mahendragarh 4.2, in Sonipat 2, and in Yamunanagar, the temperature was recorded at 4 degrees Celsius.
Today, light fog was seen in Mahendragarh. On the other hand, cold winds have been blowing in Karnal, Panchkula, Panipat, and Jind since morning.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for a cold wave in 17 cities of the state today. This may lead to a further drop in night temperature. These districts include Panchkula, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Mahendragarh, Rewari, Gurugram, Mewat, Palwal, Faridabad, Rohtak, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri.
The temperature fell the most in Hisar district. Here the mercury has fallen by 6.5 degrees from normal. After this, the temperature was recorded to be 4.1 degrees in Karnal and 3 degrees in Rohtak. According to the Meteorological Department, cold wave will continue till December 15. For this, a yellow alert has been issued in 16 districts.
